Description

The 40SDS48 (commonly listed as 40CH48TH SDS) is a single-strand, Type B Quick Detachable (QD) roller chain sprocket engineered for standard #40 roller chain (1/2" pitch). It features 48 teeth and requires an SDS-series tapered QD bushing to clamp tightly onto the driven shaft.
Product Specifications
  • Industry Designation: 40SDS48 / 40CH48TH SDS
  • Compatible Chain Size: #40 ANSI Roller Chain (1/2" Pitch)
  • Tooth Count: 48 Teeth
  • Required Bushing Type: SDS Quick Detachable Bushing (sold separately)
  • Bushing Bore Capacity: Accommodates shaft diameters from 1/2" up to 2" maximum bore
  • Pitch Diameter: 7.645 inches (194.18 mm)
  • Outside Diameter: 7.930 inches (201.42 mm)
  • Nominal Tooth Width: 0.284 inches (7.21 mm)
  • Hub Diameter: 3-3/16 inches (81.0 mm)
  • Sprocket Weight: ~3.70 lbs (rim only) or ~4.70 lbs with a standard bushing installed
Key Features
  • Split-Taper QD Compression: Pairs with an interchangeable SDS bushing. When tightened via standard pull-up bolts, the bushing compresses uniformly across the shaft to provide a solid press-fit, preventing keyway wallow and shaft slippage under sudden high-torque loads.
  • Concentric Tooth Machining: Precision-machined with bores concentric to the pitch line, which dramatically minimizes run-out, limits chain vibration, and increases the service life of your entire drive assembly.
  • High-Carbon Steel Build: Fabricated from rugged carbon steel to maintain tooth geometry and parallel chain lines over extended industrial operating lifetimes.
  • Interchangeable Design: The rim layout conforms to strict ANSI standards, allowing it to cross-interchange completely with major component brands like Martin Sprocket & Gear, U.S. Tsubaki, and Linn Gear.
Common Industry Applications
This reduction sprocket is ideal for mid-sized speed adjustment loops in automated warehouse conveyors, sorting machinery, material handling equipment, and light-to-medium industrial power drives.
